How is payment made, do you require a deposit?
Depending on the materials used, a deposit may be required at the start of the project with the balance due on completion.
What are your lead times for starting a new project?
Generally our lead times are approximately 2 – 6 weeks, depending on the time of year. We work all year round and will try to accommodate your time frame the best we can.
How long will construction take from start to finish?
This all depends on the size of the job, but for example, a standard size driveway will take 4 – 5 days. But every job is different, so with each method and project complexity, a different timeline will apply. We will always provide you with an accurate estimate once the project is booked in.
Do I need planning permission for my new driveway?
Generally speaking no, provided certain conditions are met. However correct drainage must be adhered to, especially if a non permeable paving material is used. If using impermeable materials such as concrete, asphalt or ceramic/porcelain without proper drainage over 5 square metres in size, then planning will need to be applied for. We will always advise you on the most appropriate sustainable solution. If installing a drop kerb, then permission will also need to be granted with your local authority.
Do I need to be present whilst the work is taking place?
As long as we have access to the outdoor areas in question, then no, all work can be completed whilst you are away from your property.
How much disruption/mess will there be at my property?
We try to keep this to a minimum and MD Paving are renowned for their tidy work, just read our reviews. All waste/rubble will be removed and new sand, hardcore and materials delivered by our vehicles or scheduled deliveries. We always endeavor to recycle as much of your old patio/driveway as possible. We don’t use skips either, so waste will not be sat on your driveway for days/weeks on end.
How is the ground prepared for driveway installation?
We excavate all areas by machine to a correct depth which suits the ground conditions. Hardcore is then laid and compacted using a vibrating roller which forms the sub base to the correct levels.
What are the advantages of installing a new driveway?
Apart from adding considerable value to your home, a new driveway will aesthetically enhance your property and give your property extra kerb appeal. As well as making it more attractive, it is practical too, making it safe for people and cars alike.
How long before the driveway can be used?
After completion we may have to tape an area off for 24 hours or so, but after that it’s yours to enjoy!
Will the disruption affect my neighbours?
The MD Paving team is a polite workforce, keeping any inconvenience to a minimum and ensuring responsible and clean working practices.
How long will my driveway/patio last?
If well looked after, they should last for many years. It’s also important to have good groundwork and a professional team, as this will alway help to extend the life of your installation.
How can I prevent weeds from growing?
Our paving and driveways will always be installed to a very high standard and weeds should be minimal and certainly not appear for quite some time. Depending on the surface and membrane used, keeping it clean and free of dirt will definitely help. If they do appear, it’s usually because of wind and seeds dropped by birds. Rest assured, full aftercare advice will always be given on completion of the work.
